Chris Mosz

Dear Ms Aylmer andMembers of Il Circolo,
I simply can’t say how much your and Il Circolo’s continued support means to me. With everything going on in the world you still choose to support a  brighter future through these hard times. I hope to sing for you as soon as I can.
I am currently in America staying in my hometown where I have a contract with Tulsa Opera as their Resident Artist for this season. I will be singing the role of Matteo Borsa, and covering the Duca in their upcoming production of Rigoletto. I get to share the ‘stage’ with some notable american opera stars, such as Sarah Coburn and Morris Robinson. I say ‘stage’ because it will actually be taking place on a baseball field to help maintain proper social distancing practices.
The company knows full well that I will be taking courses online, and that my education comes first. I feel lucky to have opportunities like attending this school safely from home, and singing in a production well before I thought I would. I truly want nothing more than to be on Prince Consort road walking into my school to sing, collaborate, and learn. Until then, know that my eagerness will only grow as does my yearning to get back on the Britten Theatre stage.

Earnestly,
Chris Mosz

Nicola Siagri

Dear Members of the Board of Il Circolo,
I am a student at the Royal College of Music, currently completing my second and final year of the Artist Diploma course. I have been awarded your scholarship and I am writing you this letter to thank you.
I am a cellist coming from Italy, and I have moved to London a little more than a year ago to complete my studies at the RCM. After having lived and studied in a small Italian city most of my life, I finally decided to come to London as I was very interested with the idea of studying in an important school in a big and multicultural city. The expectations were met and coming here has indeed been an eye-opening experience, and I keep discovering new things all the time.
The RCM is a great place to be in, and I think myself quite lucky to have been able to be part of this school. The things I have learnt and keep learning are invaluable, and I find I have grown quite a lot since I have joined, as a musician but also as a person. The international character of the College is fascinating, and being able to talk and play with wonderful musicians from all around the world is perhaps what I enjoy the most. The opportunities the RCM and London have to offer are many, and a little at a time I keep discovering more and more.
I am also trying to make the most of all the performance opportunities that the College offers me, and among the many, I will notably be playing some music for cello solo for the Gift of Music concert series at the RCM on the evening of the coming 20th of February, to which you are of course invited and welcome. Among others, I will be giving a recital in the summer as the final exam for my course, to which I will also invite you.
Needless to say, I have been enjoying my time here very much, and I hope to continue staying in London in the near future. Of course, studying in London is challenging, and receiving a scholarship such as this does offer considerable help in managing to live here, in the more straightforward economical way, but also with knowing that I am not alone in my journey and that there are generous people willing to help.
I thank you once again for the support, and I hope to maybe be seeing you at the Royal College of Music.

Yours sincerely,
Nicola Siagri

Rossella Monopoli

My name is Rossella Monopoli, I am an Italian art historian, and I am
currently a first year PhD student at the Warburg Institute in London. A
generous contribution from the Il Circolo association allowed me to undertake
an extremely stimulating and crucial path for my education and to bring a
research project on minor centres of the Italian Renaissance to the attention
of an international community of scholars. I am sincerely grateful to the
association for its prompt response, for the interest shown in my project and
for the support received. Such a reality, firmly focused on the promotion of
Italian culture abroad, constitutes a precious and not expected presence in
the panorama of cultural associations, above all for the support given to
humanistic research.
I cannot wait to be in London to meet the committee members and give them
my heartfelt thanks in person!

Yours sincerely,
Rossella Monopoli

Elena Accogli

Dear Ms Aylmer and the Members of Il Circolo,

My name is Elena, I play the viola and I am a second-year undergraduate student at the Royal College of Music. I began playing the violin in Bologna and I later switched to the viola as I was fascinated by its deep and expressive sound. In 2014, I moved to the UK to attend the Junior Royal Academy of Music.

I have absolutely loved my time at the RCM so far, despite all the current complications! Some of last year’s highlights have been projects with the RCM’s String Band, the RCM’s Philharmonic Orchestra and the RCM’s Opera Orchestra. This year I was extremely lucky to have performed
Brahms’ op.36 Sextet together with the Sacconi Quartet as well as playing a reduced version of Mahler’s 9th Symphony with RCM’s Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Martyn Brabbins.

I would like to thank you for your generous support which is allowing me to continue my studies at the RCM and I am very much looking forward to hearing from you and meeting you.

Kindest regards,
Elena Accogli

Antonio Morabito

Dear Ms Aylmer and members of the Board of Il Circolo,

I am writing to thank you from the deepest heart for your help which is fundamental for me.
I have a dream: to give what was given to me in my life. Together with you I can make this dream come true and give the love for art to as many people as I can. I can transmit the love for Beauty, Harmony, Solidarity with my musical teaching and with my performances.

I am honest with you, it has not been an easy time for me and my family. I am a young Italian pianist, I come from Southern Italy, from a city called Reggio Calabria, rich in beauty and solidarity but lacking in economic resources. No one would ever bet on me because I always had limited means and few opportunities in a small town. My family is very rich in values and love but not so wealthy in economic terms, in fact we live on only one salary from my father. In this period of the pandemic it was very hard to face the social and economic crisis and it is still very demanding.

It was unthinkable a few years ago for me to live in London or go to study abroad. But all this happened and slowly I built my career with great sacrifices, always studying and working. In a few years I have played in many European cities and have won prestigious national and international competitions.
Now, the studies at RCM are facilitated by your help which I hope will be enough to complete the school year without difficulty. I would like you to know that I will do my best. Thanks for believing in me. There is nothing more beautiful than the charity of your gift. In fact, I am convinced that in charity, the seed of gratitude and responsibility is born which, over time, will become a tree. And those who took care of the seed will eat its fruit.

As I have already said, I am looking forward to giving you too, very kind people, what you have given me. I will do it with my music, my humility and my desire to change the world with love and beauty in small steps.

Yours Sincerely,
Antonio Morabito
